Lamacoid engraving

I run a one-person engraving shop. I quote, lay out, engrave and invoice every job: ID tags, nameplates, breaker tags and MCC labels for electricians. Most orders ship the same day.

  • Built a line of CEC Section 64 solar PV label kits
  • Wrote the Mac app the shop runs on. It turns a customer’s spreadsheet into a ready-to-engrave tag set.
  • Set up Odoo 19 for sales, invoicing and the website

Tools that do the repetitive work

AI automation

I build tools that use AI to take busywork off my plate, from finding customers to running coding agents.

  • LeadScout. A desktop app that finds local businesses with no website and uses AI to score how likely each one is to say yes.
  • Outreach scoring. Rates solar installers before an outreach agent emails them about label kits, so only good leads get contacted.
  • Mayhem. A Mac app for running Claude and Codex coding agents side by side.

ESP32 · OLED · wiring · debugging

Soldering & electronics

I solder, flash and debug my own boards, mostly ESP32s with small displays, rotary encoders and buttons.

  • Desk display. An ESP32 with an OLED, a knob and two buttons that shows what my AI agents are doing and which shop printers are free. I traced a dead screen to one cold joint on the data line and reflowed it.
  • Soldring. A web app for the soldering bench. Point a webcam at the board and every pad you still have to hit lights up.

About

I’ve had some kind of business going since grade 8.

It started with cutting lawns for neighbours. Now I also run Llamacoids, a one-person shop that engraves the phenolic tags on electrical panels, breakers and MCCs.

I write a lot of the software the shop runs on and build websites and AI tools along the way. My weeks are split between school, the engraver, the soldering iron and a code editor.
